Also, there was speculation that Cheryl's brother in law, Alan Ladd Jr, who was the president of 20th Century Fox, had influence over the decision to hire her. I don't think there was any truth in that, because Aaron had used Cheryl on shows before and liked her. Kate was simply a difficult personality. In seasons 2 or 3, you'll see that Kate and Cheryl are rarely in scenes together, and don't even sit together in scenes involving all three Angels. Kate made her demands and got her way a lot.

Bobzeda, someone's marked your comment as spam but your explanation of why Kate didn't like Cheryl is fairly accurate. Kate had huge input into the development of Charlie's Angels, but when Farrah left, Kate didn't get a say on who the next Angel would be. There's talk that Kate wanted the show to continue with just her and Jaclyn. Cheryl was made an instant star by arriving on the show, and in Kate's opinion Cheryl hadn't done the "hard yards."

Interesting take on that. I always felt that they brought Tanya in to be the "Honey West/Emma Peel" and that Kelly kinda of stayed the same. I think that some of the story lines were more serious, but they were STILL reusing old ideas, which was totally the writer's fault. They needed to let Ed Lakso direct, and give the writing job to someone else who had time to devote to JUST writing. Ed was directing and writing, and obviously he didn't see the scripts TANKED!

I really also liked Tayna Roberts. Once Tayna Roberts was on board the concept and premise changed drastically. For one the stories were way more serious then the 79/80 season. Also Kelly's character changed to what originally writers wanted which was streetwise and indeed she was a lot more Honey West/Emma Peel then in the previous four seasons.

I agree with you on the episode with Farrah and the Prince. I wish she would have been interacting more with the other angels. I liked the scene where she was shooting at the bad guys when they were on the boat though. I agree about the "Face lift farm" one. I think they could have done something more with that. On the last guest appearance episode Farrah was in, she was getting gasoline in an old jalopy and got kidnapped. Again, I wish she'd have been interacting more with the other angels.

I couldn't STAND the keystone cops one, while I really LIKED the one where Tiff & Kel were hookers. lol lol. But, I DID NOT like the one at the "face lift farm" and I think the one w/ Farrah and the Prince was a wasted opportunity to do something fun w/ Farrah there.

I agree with you. Their sheer beauty couldn't keep the show going on its own. Barney Rosenzweig was the producer of the show, and he tried to push the same thing, but they turned him down. He went on to produce "Cagney and Lacey" which had more character development than "Charlie's Angels". Had they let him do that, who knows what would have happened with the show? I wasn't too thrilled about some episodes like with Key Stone Cops and the one where Jackie and Shelley were hookers.

*cont'd* I had to cut that last statement short because of space. What I meant to say was that Kate knew that the novelty in the "Charlie's Angels" idea would run thin after a while, and that good scripts would be it's only salvation if the series were to be a successful run (and I agree). They were already "reusing" ideas from previous seasons and therefore it was becoming a one note song. They needed to expand on characterization, which Kate encouraged, yet they refused.

There's a clip of her in a bathing suit from a film called Limbo which proves she definitely did have the body for it. Amazing legs
